TIP 22: I forgot #22! My bad!
TIP 23: CREATE A HAPPY LIST

Hands up if you need more pleasantness in your life?
Yup, I can see and hear you!
I’m a firm believer that making happy lists and putting them in rooms in which we often go in, or items we often see, open, touch, is another great self-care tip!
First of all, who likes making pretty lists? I definitely do! And I like to put them on even prettier stationery, so they can stand out. And one of my favorite lists to make is a HAPPY LIST.
Think about what makes you happy and write your list.
If you are extra organized, why not make a happy list per theme??
Here is my HAPPY LIST of the moment and in no particular order either:
My family
The sunrise
The smell of freshly baked bread
My job
My daughter’s giggles
My IG followers
A long hot shower
Writing in my journal
The sunset
Netflix
Obviously these aren’t the ONLY things that make me happy, but they are definitely in my top tier of happiness!! What about you??
TIP 24: IF SOMETHING HAS BEEN FRUSTRATING YOU, VENT IT OUT
Better out than in

I bet so many of us are feeling frustrated over something today. Am I right, or am I right?
My self-care tip is to just let go of that frustration!
It is very unhealthy to hold on to an emotion that is as negative as frustration.
Throughout my childhood and adolescence, I would often keep my emotions in check, because I was afraid of what other people would think about my reaction to those said-emotions!
Don't get me wrong, I had a truly loving and understanding family and I had a really ideal life growing up (I still do!), however being the eldest, I put myself under so much pressure to be "a good example", that whenever something didn't go how I wanted it to, I would just bottle it up, compartmentalize and move on.

TIP 25: CREATE A TO-READ BOOK LIST
One more chapter I whispered 2 hours ago.

You guys are probably wondering, is writing lists her thing?! Well funny you ponder that! I actually love making lists and today we are going to be writing a TO-READ LIST.⠀
Why do you ask?
Because reading opens up so many possibilities for our minds to wander, learn, explore and just do something that is pleasant!!
And my tips are all about doing something that is good for you!⠀
What I find great about this self-care tip, is that it is perennial.
You can keep adding to it, cross it out, but you will always have it, and in a year's time, you can come back to it and see what your 12-months ago self, was reading or wanting to read.
Here are 5 of my current books on my to-read list:⠀
- “Think like a monk”, by Jay SHETTY⠀
- “Body positive power”, by Megan Jayne Crabbe⠀
- “We’re going to need more wine […]”, by Gabrielle Union⠀
- “Just mercy”, by Bryan Stevenson⠀
⠀
* WARNING* There may be a trigger for some, in the title… when you go check it out online!
⠀ - “Life will be […]”, by Chelsea Handler⠀
Make sure to comment below with yours!!

TIP 26: CHECK YOUR FINANCES ARE IN CHECK
My favorite childhood memory is not paying bills

Let's be real here. Even if you don't like doing it, and unless you have someone who can do it for you (and even if that were the case, you still kinda have to do it!), you really ought to know where you are at, financially.
I can completely understand if you are not up for it today, but as we are nearing the end of the month, now is a good time to think about it.
Even if you are not financially stable, knowing what you owe, when you have to pay a bill, how much you can spend that day/week/month, knowing that you can put a little bit aside, is empowering!!!
Maybe you have debts, but it's when money is tight that you need to be inflexible with your spending.
I was SO hopeless when it came to handling a budget.
I learned to manage my finances, my 1st year of college. I was living away from my family for the first time, with no one telling me not to buy something, so I went a little spend-happy …
Needless to say, it was through lots of mishaps, numerous calls with my bank manager (NEVER pleasant!!), and countless sleepless nights, that I became good at balancing my money. Don't go imagining I am loaded, eh!
Like stated above, managing your finances is especially essential when you are on a really tight budget. Try writing down what you spend weekly, then monthly.
At the end of that first year, you have an overall idea of what you spend on what, and then you can allocate yourself X amount for X thing.
And little by little you will be able to balance your money, and eventually closer to financial freedom.
It truly is empowering to know that YOU have CONTROL over that one aspect in your life!!
What about you? Are you good or bad at budgeting??

TIP 27: LISTEN TO A PODCAST
Find you why

When there are days that you are just not into it, what do you enjoy doing?
One of my go-to activities is listening to a podcast.
This often helps me ground myself, focus and regain purpose for my day. It definitely helps me find my WHY.
We all have a purpose on this earth and sometimes it's just very difficult to find it.
Yet, we have to remember that whilst we fumble, fall over, we also get back up and regain composure to start again.
Finding equilibrium in my life is a constant uphill battle for me, BUT by listening to a podcast, I know that I can focus and channel my positive vibes, for a healthier outcome.
I always love listening to On Purpose, hosted by Jay Shetty. He has an amazing podcast on finding the why in our life.
I am absolutely loving Unstyled, hosted by Christing Barberich. SHe is the CEO of Refinery 29 and she has amazing guests, who have in common the want to empower through their way-of-life, but also through fashion.
But my go-to for sure is Work in progress. Sophia Bush has a brilliant analytical mind and she interviews beautifully her guests, which also uplifts me, makes me cringe or cry, and most importantly, ensures I ask myself uncomfortable questions.
Sure, there are topics that are controversial, but this is what we need. To be able to listen, debate and be empathetic towards, each other, but mostly ourselves!
What about you? What are your favorite podcasts to listen to??

TIP 28: CLEAN YOUR SCREENS & KEYBOARDS

Ok, hands up who cleans their screens and keyboard(s) EVERYDAY!
Well, if you do then go you!! I for one, am definitely not disciplined enough to do so!! LOL.
I do ensure my workspace is looking cute and tidy, but I often forget those items that I use every single day!
It may not appear to be much of a self-care tip, but really it is - by cleaning your screens and keyboard(s), you are also taking care of the things you own.
However, thanks to the Covid-19, I have been extra careful with everything that we touch, and have been very good at cleaning these items, which we don't think of wiping down!
Cleaning can also be quite relaxing!! You really ought to try it. And even if you are not into cleaning, do wipe down your screens and keyboard(s)!!
When doing so, don't forget to take off all protections! Germs love to get in all nooks and crannies.
I know, today's tip was a little different, but I thought it was important to mention it, because with being inside all day, we are more often using our screens.

TIP 29: PREP THE FIRST THING YOU ARE GOING TO DO IN MAY
Grateful for where I'm at, excited for where I'm going.

Today's tip, will be perfect for any penultimate day of any month.
I though we could first take some time to think about what the amazing steps we have overcome this month, and now think about what we are going to be doing at the beginning of May 2020.
For some of you, just getting through today is going to be enough, and you are completely right! It is enough. So if you don't feel comfortable planning so far ahead, that is totally fine. You can opt-out and come back when it is a better day
For those, that are having a good day and would like to join in the little self-care tip, I suggest that we dive into what you would like to be doing in May. Think of that first thing you would like to do, and prepare for it!
Don't get me wrong, I love spontaneity, but being an anxious person, I need to know exactly how I would like things to be. Of course, sometimes they don't work out, but at least I was prepared, and the fall is just a stumble!
The first thing I will doing in May is continuing to think about my content that I will be posting for you guys in the upcoming months!! There are days the task seems daunting, but I am also up for the challenge and I love thinking and planning.
And lists! Y'all know, or maybe you are discovering it, but your girl loves her lists!!!
TIP 30: READ THE LETTER YOU WROTE TO YOURSELF on March 31st, 2020
Don't wait until you've your goal to be proud of yourself.
Be proud of every step you took to reach that goal.

On March 31st, if you were following me then, I asked you to write yourself a love letter and to write down 3 things:
something that you love about yourself
something that you loved doing in March
something you will take with you in April
If you weren't that's ok, you can do it this month
So, I would like you to open up that letter you wrote to yourself, and take the time to read it, take it in. The whole objective of this little exercise is to always think about the process and to be extremely proud of what you have already achieved, especially the steps taken to get where you are now.
And just like that I have shared with you my self-care tips. Don't hesitate to go back and read them again. These obviously do not have to be done every day of a month, but they are a great guideline to help with grounding yourself and finding pleasure in enjoying things for you!
Remember that self-care is NOT selfish and if anyone makes you feel that you are being selfish - just tell their truth and you do you, for you and never compromise that!
