Want Access To The Free Self Care Bundle?

    Yes please!

I hate spam to! I pinky promise not to inundate you with stuff & you can unsbscribe whenever you want! I’ll be sad, but I’ll understand (kinda, not really! JJ!).

#1: READ A BOOK OR LISTEN TO AN AUDIOBOOK

“Reading gives someplace to go when we have to stay where we are”

This beautiful quote resonates so well at the moment, especially in the current global situation we are in.

I hope that you are doing ok and that your are staying safe and staying “in” if you can.

In France, we are entering our 3rd week of confinement and it definitely isn’t easy everyday, but we are trying to do our part and stay at home, with 2 working adults & an energetic 5 yo (going onto 15)!

    It’s definitely hectic.

However, there is one thing that I try to do and that is to take a little bit of “ME” time.

And, trust me, I get you – you’re thinking (I know you are!), “How the heck does she want me to take ME time, when I have SO many things to do??”.

    Relax! I’ve got you!

Self-Care Isn't Selfish. Don't Feel Guilty For Taking Some YOU Time. YOU Matter And Are Important! Check out elleash.blog for more SELF CARE TIPS.

For sure, it’s not always feasible but in order to stay sane, and not throw my laptop out the window, onto some poor passer-by, or worse, throw the cat out (JUST JOKING!!!), I need some “ME” time to chill.

And with the new month starting today, I thought it was a perfect time to share with you my little tips & secrets, on how to be able to practice a little self-care – when you don’t have a lot of time, space or even the financial means!

You don’t need a lot to feel relaxed, look & feel great and be ready to start with the craziness again!

Even if you only have time for a couple of pages, take that time just for you to continue that book, start a new one, or why not read an article in a glossy magazine??

It doesn’t matter what you read, just as long as you take that time for yourself.

I understand that it can appear completely undoable, but trust me – you will feel so much better after taking that time for YOU !

Heck, if you really can’t find that peace and quiet to indulge in those couple of pages, other than in the bathroom? Then do it!

Remember that even if you are a Super Mama or a Badass Boss or a Sexy Wifey, or all and more, you cannot take care of people until you take care of yourself first.

Finish that chapter or start a new one. Just take that time for you!

    MY ALL TIME FAVORITE AUTHORS:

    BRENE BROWN

Brene Brown is such a verbose, funny and extra profound speaker, writer, researcher. I absolutely LOVE her. Seriously, go check out her books and Ted Talks. She is freaking amazing! If she were to create a “cult” I’d be her first follower!!

    MICHELLE OBAMA

If you have reading my posts, you will know about my obsession with Michelle Obama! Lol! This book is seriously becoming (hehe) one of my favorites. I have read it again recently, and really you need to read it for yourselves, if you haven’t already!

    Indulge ladies 🙂

    JANE AUSTEN

Anything by Jane Austen is seriously the best self-care read!

She was an exceptional woman and a brilliant writer. She lived at a time where her innovative writing was so avant-garde, that she is a definite hero to my eyes!

    PATRICIA CORNWALL

Another favorite of mine. Another genre, but I love crime and police novels.

This is the first novel I read of Patricia Cornwell, and she totally got me hooked!

Read it to meet Kay Scarpetta and her entourage 🙂

After reading it, you will feel absolutely ready for anything!

I also love, LOVE  UNTAMED !

This SO effing empowering and she just touches the right nerves to get you thinking so hard about your how you want to live your life.

I highly recommend LOVE WARRIOR as well.

I’ve realized that my favorite novels are all written by women!

It’s a sign that we, women, are truly amazeballs! 😉

#2: CHOOSE A DAY TO CUT BACK ON SOCIAL MEDIA

    I’m working on myself,

    for myself,

    by myself.

We all know it’s HARD !!!!

Like, with a capital H – BUT, we all need to cut back on things that take up SO much time in our life!!

I don’t live under a rock, heck I use social media every single day to reach out to my followers and community, so I know how hard it is to cut back.

Nevertheless, this tip isn’t meant for you to shut down and delete all your accounts – I’d be mighty sad if you left the social media realm!!!

I’m just saying that in order to really ensure that we are taking care of ourselves, we also know when to disconnect a little.

So, let’s take baby steps (on the side – this term is one that you will often read! I love my baby steps y’all!).

How about trying to not grab your phone first thing in the morning?

That could be the first step to cutting back a little.

Just concentrating on YOU first thing in the morning.

Then once you have been able to accomplish that, and stuck to it for a week, then you can try and choose ONE day in the week, when you only turn to your phone for work, and not anything to do with social media.

You’re not cutting yourself off to the world forever, just one day, or just a morning, or evening, a week.

It’s important as this will set you up for the rest of you day – if you choose the morning to cut back – and will help you be more relaxed at night – if you choose the evening version.

And hey, go crazy and do BOTH!!

#3: TAKE 10 MINUTES TO CLEAR UP CLUTTER

If you don’t love it or use it,

    it’s clutter.

Self-Care Isn't Selfish. Don't Feel Guilty For Taking Some YOU Time. YOU Matter And Are Important! Check out elleash.blog for more SELF CARE TIPS.

    That is SO true.

Without going all Marie Kondo here, who hasn’t just wanted to cry when faced with a cluttered kitchen, office, kids’ room, wardrobe??

So, I am not going to lie to you and say that my workspace is the most pristine-pinterest-worthy-looking space – because it just ain’t! (I know, I can hear the disappoint in your sighs! Lol!)

I mean, if you are like most Super Mamas, Badass Bosses and more importantly, human, out there, you just don’t always have the time to keep your place all tidy, pretty and camera-ready, right?!

What has this got to do with our Self-Care April you ask? A lot ladies!!

Self-care is all about doing something for you and something that is going to make you feel good about yourself.

I can hear you from here girls! How is tidying up doing something for ME??

When you see things piling up and you’re not being pro-active about getting that pile down, it’ll just keep accumulating and put more pressure on you, by knowing it’s there, but not doing anything about it!

So, take just 10mins in your day and tidy up that little cluttered corner.

You may not have finished it, but more often than not, 10mins is PLENTY of time to tidy up YOUR space.

Once that space is tidy and clean, your mind will be free to do other things that you enjoy.

Obviously you don’t want to declutter in one session.

That may lead to a meltdown.

It doesn’t matter that you haven’t completely finished.

What is important is that you set aside 10mins in your day to concentrate on something that was bothering you, and your intent of the day was to clear it up.

    And guess what?

    You did it!

And does it feel good or does it feel good huh??

MY FAVORITE ITEMS TO HELP KEEP OUR SPACE TIDY:

stackable storage organizers for your fridge

By far the coolest items ever made!

A tidy fridge not only helps maintaining your produce fresh, it also ensures you are not doubling or tripling up on items you already have.

So you’re saving space AND money!

These can also be used in your pantry, in your cupboards – really anywhere you need to keep things tidy, yet still be able to see what you are trying to hide away 😅

I totally love them, as they are stackable and super easy to clean.

    17 pack drawer organizers

    Another lifesaver item.

    I use these EVERYWHERE!

Little C puts her elastics and clips in there, we put our coins and keys when we come home.

I also have them on my desk, in the kitchen drawers, as well as in our bathroom!

The best part, which I find extremely useful are that their little silicone tabs beneath each organizer help them stay put! They don’t move around, even if you toggle a stuck drawer!

Super versatile and inexpensive – there are 17 little compartments!

What a steal to help me declutter my space.

    OrganiHaus XXL Cotton Rope Basket

Initially I bought these to put C’s soft toys in.

However, like any kid, she always wanted to the toy right-down-the-bottom, so she’d just empty the whole basket out!

We have now bought a couple more, but for us. And they are not only gorgeous, they help declutter my space.

I bought them in the color you see on the image (3-toned-grey) and they are really pretty.

I use one as a blanket basket, in our TV area, and we have put the other one in the office/spare room, so our guests can put the extra pillows and blankets they don’t use.

Not only are they super sturdy, but they are washable and they come out perfectly new!

    24-Pocket Over-the-Door Hanging Medium-Size Shoe Organizer

So this is an awesome item to organize our stuff.

We have this in our hallway closet.

Normally it is sold to store your shoes, however, I like to put our scarves, beanies and whatever little, soft items we can put in the little pockets!

The pockets are in a softy-mesh type of material, so you can see through them, when the items you have stored away are a little smaller and they’re not poking out from the top.

Another life-saver to declutter your space!

    #4: EAT A HEALTHY BREAKFAST

    It’s “too” a.m. for me

Self-Care Isn't Selfish. Don't Feel Guilty For Taking Some YOU Time. YOU Matter And Are Important! Check out elleash.blog for more SELF CARE TIPS.

Hands up those of you who are big breakfast eaters?

    Personally, I wasn’t one until I started working a full-time job.

I realized that I couldn’t just take a break when I wanted and have a snack, like I would normally if I were at home, or when I was still in college!

So, I started waking up a little earlier and taking the time to have a good hearty breakfast.

It wasn’t always the most healthy, but I did try to have slow carbs that would sustain me at least until my lunch break!

In these times of isolation, it kinda always seem like the WE right?

I mean, our days kinda just follow the previous one, and if you are used to working from home, then you normally have your routine figured out.

But for those that are still fumbling around with the notion, that it really is okay to stay in your PJs and continue to feel empowered, you may need to recalibrate which day it is!

In order to ensure your weekend stays the weekend, you need to have little rituals.

One of my favorite luxuries on some weekends, is to be able to ave a yummy breakfast in bed!

Does that sound good or what?

We all know that breakfast is the most important meal of the day, so why not take the luxury of eating it in bed? I’m all for it!

Now, my ideal breakfast would be:

    • A strong coffee
    • A stack of fresh, fluffy pancakes with maple syrup drizzled on top
    • Freshly picked strawberries
    • Newspaper

And all this with the cutest 5 year old ever trying to get to my stack of fresh, fluffy pancakes and a handsome hubby trying to steal my paper!

But I Can Turn Pizza Into Breakfast

Wish you could turn water in wine? Yeah – me too.

Alas, no matter how hard I try, I just can’t.

So, let’s try and not get ahead of ourselves with that unresolved dilemma, and let’s concentrate on something that will guarantee us feeling good about ourselves and oh-so-productive!!

Sunday is usually our laze-around day. That said, it is usually also when I actually try and be productive and it definitely helps me get through another week!

How is this related to self-care you sigh?? Weeeeeell …

We know from the previous self-care tips, that it is all about doing things that make you feel good and happy, and meal-prepping is definitely one of those tips that has saved our sorry-A more than once!

And what is even cooler is that meal prepping doesn’t have to be a chore!!

With awesome YT channels on the web, you can follow along and get great meal ideas for the week.

If meal prepping freaks you out, then how about starting really slow?

How about just trying out one meal per day, then moving on to two, etc …

Once you get the hang of it, it’s SO refreshing to just open your fridge or freezer and heat up some true goodness and yumminess.

    #6: LEARN SOMETHING NEW

Self-Care Isn't Selfish. Don't Feel Guilty For Taking Some YOU Time. YOU Matter And Are Important! Check out elleash.blog for more SELF CARE TIPS.

In this time of isolation, we may have some more time on our hands, and it’s the perfect time for a little more self-care. right?

Learning is the key to opening our eyes to greatness and elevate ourselves to improve on what we already know.

Why not try out a MasterClass?? I mean who hasn’t ever wanted Alicia Keys to teach us songwriting? Or what about learning how to sketch and doodle?? MasterClass is currently offering an awesome BOGOF (Buy One Get One Free) deal. I highly recommend taking RuPaul’s MasterClass – he will teach you how to truly be your most authentic self!!

Starting from scratch, evolving & mastering something is one the keys to being a Badass Boss, Super Mama and all time KA Woman!

Oftentimes we associate self-care with something that can be materialized, slapped onto our face or look shiny & pretty. Yet self-care can also be non-tangible and equally as delightful.

Learning is one of those non-tangible delights.

Don’t get me wrong, I love masking like any other girl or guy, however, and I blame my training for this (lol), I love being creative with my mind. Go check out my post on What I’ve Been Doing To Keep My Mental Health In Check, and I share with you 5 awesome things I’ve been doing as self care. You will get to know what type of creative projects I’ve been up to!!

Nevertheless, don’t get sucked into the spiral of learning a whole plethora of things, because you have this extra time on your hands!

Don’t forget that the mind does need to rest, and if you just inundate it with too many things, it will shut down.

    So baby steps y’all!

#7: WRITE IN YOUR JOURNAL EVERYDAY

    People write because nobody listens

In Paris, France, this is the start of our 4th isolation week.

It’s hard, especially when we keep hearing about the rise of victims and the hardships many families are facing …

However, in order to try and create some positive moments in my days, one of the things I always try to do, is write in my journal.

I love this form of self-care, as it truly is something that you do for yourself, with yourself and by yourself!

You can vent all that you need to, write out your thoughts, wants & desires.

Writing is a great stress-reliever, motivator and sets your intentions for the day.

I have had a journal since my 13th birthday.

My Dad brought me one back from one of his trips overseas. I can still see it see the cover, feel the softness of its pages and smell the newness of it.

I have tried to write in all the journals I have owned. I’m not going to lie to you and make you believe that I have written in my journals, every single day. Because that’s just not the truth.

There are days when I feel pretty dang great, so I kinda forgo writing in my journal, even though I really ought to share my good days too!

I often tend to go to my journal, like I would wear my favorite pair of jeans, because I know they fit like a glove, or eat chicken noodle soup because it reminds me of my Mom – which in turn makes me feel safe.

That is exactly what my journal is to me. A safety blanket. The idea that it’s there, acts as a confidante, and never judges my words or actions described in it, is one of comfort.

I highly recommend using the current world situation, and start writing your thoughts down.

If you are starting your journey with journaling, then welcome! And if you have stopped and taking it back up, then congratulations!

The best form of self care is one that will make you feel amazing – and I really believe that writing away our heavy heart will do just that.

MY FAVORITE JOURNALS THAT I HAVE USED & STILL USE:

MINIMALISM ART, PREMIUM HARD COVER NOTEBOOK JOURNAL

This is a lovely replacement for my MOO notebooks.

The paper is super soft yet thick enough for any bleeding to appear – especially if you enjoy writing with inkier pens.

Of course, if you want to use brush pens or thicker pens, the ink will be seen on the other page, but that’s normal!

If you want a good, yet inexpensive journal to write in everyday, then this is definitely a go-to!

They have super pretty colors, yet I have chosen the light purple one – even if it is called pink on Amazon.

This journal is a little different to the ones I have used, as it is a lined one.

I like the dotted pages because I enjoy doodling and bullet journaling, but this one has served me well, if just wanting to write and not sketch in it.

The cover is super soft, made out of vegan leather.

The pages are also soft and thick, so great for all that writing!

A plant ladies. And one that flourishes when it is mighty hydrated! Keeping hydrated is SO important my little plants! It’s a simple and essential self-care routine that you need to keep on track with.

We all know the benefits of drinking water, but let’s just name a few, to ensure you keep tabs on your water intake.

    • Supports heart health
    • Improves circulation
    • Increases waste removal
    • Flushes out toxins
    • Improves complexion

At the moment I am totally obsessed with this water bottle! I love that it has a straw (that can be cleaned) and isn’t too heavy.

#10: REMOVE 5 ITEMS FROM YOUR SPACE THAT YOU DON’T LIKE/USE

Self-Care Isn't Selfish. Don't Feel Guilty For Taking Some YOU Time. YOU Matter And Are Important! Check out elleash.blog for more SELF CARE TIPS.

Sometimes, it’s just easier to hold on to items when we don’t really know what to do with them. But by doing that, we just accumulate and our space ends up lacking just that – space!

We all have that junk drawer, that shelf or even that corner, where we just pile things and pray they disappear, or that the cleaning-fairy will miraculously make disappear, right?

I tend to do just that.

Stack things, and wait till the pile tips and then I’m forced to tidy up.

It only really happens in my office. The rest of our house is fairly clutter free.

Getting rid of things can be quite stressful for most.

    I get it.

As a child I moved around so much, that I got used to not carrying around much and just keeping the bare essentials, the items that made me feel safe and that held memories to me.

Because we moved around so much, due to my parents’ careers, I remember being absolutely heart-broken when I couldn’t find this little musical instrument that was made out of red-clay.

My Dad had brought it back for me from a trip to Europe, and I really loved it! I would pretend to be a great musician and would drive the whole household nuts with the awful sound it made.

    But I loved it.

With this self-care tip, I’m definitely not implying you remove something that you love, I am, however, merely suggesting you get rid of 5 things that definitely do not give you joy, and either donate them or throw them away.

Who doesn’t like sweet smells in their house?

May it be the smell of baking cookies – which may remind us of our childhood, the smell of freshly cut grass, which may remind you of a perfect spring day, or even the scent of freshly brewed coffee – which tells our brain that we need to get our A in gear- pronto!!

So let’s get lit and light yourself a lovely scented candle, y’all!

I bet that lighting a candle is synonymous to relaxation, calm and peace.

The most effective way to start off your day or to end it!And if you are lucky enough, run yourself a bubble bath!!!

    Self-care BLISS!!

My favorite scented candle of all time, is the Yankee Candle, Coton scent. I discovered that my sense of smell was super sensitive when I was pregnant, and this was the only candle-smell I could tolerate!

    Invest in your sleep.

Self-Care Isn't Selfish. Don't Feel Guilty For Taking Some YOU Time. YOU Matter And Are Important! Check out elleash.blog for more SELF CARE TIPS.

Yup, just like when we were kids and our parents used to tell us to go to bed, well we are going to do it ourselves, by setting ourselves a bedtime timer.Raise your hand if you have a tendency to push back your bedtime, because you’ve got things to finish, or you want to read that last page of the chapter in your novel, or you want to know how the episode of the show you’re watching ends?Come on, raise it higher. Because, I for sure have been guilty of those such things! However, since trying this little technique, my evenings have been much more serene, because I know that I have to get things done before winding down for the night and my days are much more productive, as I feel refreshed and well-rested!Try it before dishing it y’all.

#13: COMMIT TO UNPLUGGING WHEN TALKING TO PEOPLE

Self-Care Isn't Selfish. Don't Feel Guilty For Taking Some YOU Time. YOU Matter And Are Important! Check out elleash.blog for more SELF CARE TIPS.

We all know that unplugging from social media is important and we all ought to try and do it more often.

One point that is so very important to self-care is to unplug when we are with other people. I’m sure we have all had our phones in our hands and looking at our notifications, whilst speaking to other people.

Or had the TV on when we are having our family meals.I’m not here to be all moralistic, but come on!

One, it’s kinda rude to be here-but-not-really-here whilst in the company of others,.

Two, we are not doing ourselves any good when not being fully present with those we are with. How is this related to self-care? Simple.

When we are with other people, people that we want to be with, people that we care about, it makes us feel good.

When we feel good, we feel whole, content, fulfilled, happy.

Thus, things that make us felicitous are good for usIt’s important to be completely present and focused on the people we are with.

It’s good for them, but also for us 😉

Self-Care Isn't Selfish. Don't Feel Guilty For Taking Some YOU Time. YOU Matter And Are Important! Check out elleash.blog for more SELF CARE TIPS.

In France, we have been put in isolation, yet again, therefore, stillness is something I have been practising for the past month!

I think by the end of this isolation period, I’m going to be a master yogi!!

We live in a society where everything needs to go fast and one that is ever-changing.

Objects change faster than we can learn how to use them, people can also appear like shape-shifters, and even us – we change when, sometimes, we don’t need to.

The world may continue to spin, but it’s essential for you to stop, and embrace what you already have – without ever losing your focus on what you could achieve of course!

Practising stillness doesn’t mean to just sit and meditate all day. It means that you find what will make you avoid distractions and discover insights and to embrace them, respect them and never lose focus of them.

This self-care tip is rather complex sometimes, as we tend to follow the spin of the world and never find an anchor point.

Yet, this is primordial to know what you truly are capable of doing and doing it right. By avoiding distractions you are better focused on you and your needs, to be completely fulfilled.

So, how about we just stopped following the crowd and slowed down. You’d be surprised as to what you can achieve when slowing down.

It’s your secret weapon to charging forward!

    #15: GARDEN

To Plant A Garden Is To Believe In Tomorrow – Audrey Hepburn

Self-Care Isn't Selfish. Don't Feel Guilty For Taking Some YOU Time. YOU Matter And Are Important! Check out elleash.blog for more SELF CARE TIPS.

If you are one of the lucky ones and have a garden, you’re going to love this self-care tip.

Even if you are in the city and just have a little balcony, my self-care tip can still be totally useful.

Gardening is one of the most relaxing activities that you can really take-on anytime and anywhere.

There is something so liberating to get your hands dirty and a few weeks later, see the fruit of your labor!

Gardening takes time, effort and can sometimes feel like you’re not really getting anywhere.

The objective here is to enjoy the process and to take pleasure in a simple act.

So what are some of the benefits of taking the time to garden, you ask?

Firstly, you are doing something other than work and this activity is highly beneficial for your mind, as it leads you on a journey of self discovery, creativity, and observation.

Secondly, it’s beneficial for your tastebuds, as you are harvesting wholesome goodness for you and your family.

And finally, think of the physical benefits gardening provides us with.

We are getting fresh air, vitamin D and we are actually burning calories!

Because, gardening isn’t just watering and pruning, it requires digging, moving, pulling, planting.

You’re pretty much using muscles all the time and varying your movement too!

How cool is that? I definitely LOVE this self-care tip.

We are not machines and we cannot function on very little sleep.

Sometimes we can spare a few hours here & there when, we should be sleeping, but reality catches up and then we become zombies.

Being a zombie is not sexy and definitely not what is considered as self-care!!

So, you want to be taking those naps okay?

You’re probably thinking, how can I take a nap, when there are too many things to do?

You don’t need to take one everyday.

If you can, great, if you can’t, then take a power nap when needed!

#20: MAKE THAT APPOINTMENT YOU’VE BEEN PUTTING OFF

    Call Me Baby!

Self-Care Isn't Selfish. Don't Feel Guilty For Taking Some YOU Time. YOU Matter And Are Important! Check out elleash.blog for more SELF CARE TIPS.

Hands up if you are the type of person who hates taking the phone to make an appointment? Especially one that you have been pushing back and back.

I absolutely hate the dentist. Like, detest going so profoundly, that I will wait longer than necessary to have a yearly check-up.

Yet, my dentist is so lovely!! She never berates me nor does she make me endure any pain! It”s just me and my phobia!!

My procrastination in making an appointment totally came to bite my back in the butt though!

I had waited for so long that I had to go into emergency dental surgery, because one of my wisdom teeth was pushing on a nerve and making me black out from the piercing pain! SO stupid of me.

So, trust me I totally understand how uncomfortable the phone can sometimes be, as well as going to the appointment.

But don’t be like me and wait till you pass out from the pain or the stress the appointment itself! Get it over and done with.

This is just an example of when we push things back for too long, it can be too hard to get out of the actual situation, and it can transform itself into something way worse.

Remember that when you are overcoming that hurdle of making that appointment, you are also doing it for yourself!

So, do that one little thing that will be a great stepping-stone for the rest of your day / week / month …

Sometimes self-care doesn’t always feel good right away! Lol!

You’re probably thinking that I have completely lost it, by asking you to throw things out – especially a few days before Earth Day, right?

Well, nope, I haven’t lost it completely – yet!!The reason this is a self-care tip and that it is important for you is because you definitely do not want to be consuming something that is no longer edible, or using something that has been sitting on your shelf for over 6 months.I get it, you don’t want to throw it out, because you paid an arm and a leg (and probably an eye too!) for it, but the reason you haven’t been using it, is exactly because it has been just “there” and you’re not quite sure what to do with it.You have probably realized by now that I try not to hoard and accumulate things, but I respect and get why some people do it, and I am not here to judge, but I hope that you will throw out that gunky-looking face cream that has expired for nearly 2 years, but you’ve kept it in your stuff because it looks pretty!Trust me – once you get rid of items that you no longer need – worse if they have expired, we have NO excuse to be keeping them – you will feel lighter and ready to accept more things into your life. Some days are better than others, so if you are reading this post and it is definitely not a good day, then don’t do it. But keep it in the back of your head, that throwing out things that are expired, is similar to a spring cleaning of the mind. And who doesn’t like a clear mind or a purposeful mindset?Think about it and when you’re ready – start TOSSING!!!

In April we will be celebrating Earth Day, so it got me thinking as to how could Earth Day be associated with self-care?

Well, self-care is doing something for you that makes you feel good about yourself, so why not aim for the triple points?!

If you are able to prepare a bag of your old clothes and donate it to charity, you are not only doing something for yourself, but you are also helping out the planet a little bit too!We all know that the state of our planet is quite deplorable, and one of the things that this Covid-19 virus has taught us, is that Mother Nature is taking back what is rightfully hers – and that is her home! She is breathing better, her eyesight is clearer and she seems happier with her animal guests coming back out to play!By not using our cars to potentially buy more items, by not having factories pollute as much, our Earth is feeling the benefits of this virus! Of course, I feel for the people that have lost their jobs and that are cursing this virus.I totally get it!However, I am not here to proclaim any solutions to the financial s**t many people are in, I am here to provide just a few self-care tips that are going to be beneficial to you and for our planet. That bag of clothes that you will donate, will go to several people who need them and you will have done a self-care act for you and a kind act for our planet.

    #23: CREATE A HAPPY LIST

Hands up if you need more pleasantness in your life?

Yup, I can see and hear you!

I’m a firm believer that making happy lists and putting them in rooms in which we often go in, or items we often see, open, touch, is another great self-care tip!

First of all, who likes making pretty lists? I definitely do! And I like to put them on even prettier stationery, so they can stand out. And one of my favorite lists to make is a HAPPY LIST.

Think about what makes you happy and write your list.

If you are extra organized, why not make a happy list per theme??

HERE IS MY HAPPY LIST OF THE MOMENT AND IN NO PARTICULAR ORDER EITHER:

My familyThe sunriseThe smell of freshly baked breadMy jobMy daughter’s gigglesMy IG followersA long hot showerWriting in my journalThe sunsetNetflix

Obviously these aren’t the ONLY things that make me happy, but they are definitely in my top tier of happiness!! What about you??

    Better Out Than In

Self-Care Isn't Selfish. Don't Feel Guilty For Taking Some YOU Time. YOU Matter And Are Important! Check out elleash.blog for more SELF CARE TIPS.

I bet so many of us are feeling frustrated over something today. Am I right, or am I right?

My self-care tip is to just let go of that frustration!

It is very unhealthy to hold on to an emotion that is as negative as frustration.

Throughout my childhood and adolescence, I would often keep my emotions in check, because I was afraid of what other people would think about my reaction to those said-emotions!

Don’t get me wrong, I had a truly loving and understanding family and I had a really ideal life growing up (I still do!), however being the eldest, I put myself under so much pressure to be “a good example”, that whenever something didn’t go how I wanted it to, I would just bottle it up, compartmentalize and move on.

You guys are probably wondering, is writing lists her thing?! Well funny you ponder that! I actually love making lists and today we are going to be writing a TO-READ LIST.⠀

    Why do you ask?

Because reading opens up so many possibilities for our minds to wander, learn, explore and just do something that is pleasant!!

And my tips are all about doing something that is good for you!⠀

What I find great about this self-care tip, is that it is perennial.

You can keep adding to it, cross it out, but you will always have it, and in a year’s time, you can come back to it and see what your 12-months ago self, was reading or wanting to read.

Here are 5 of my current books on my to-read list:

    1. “Think like a monk”, by Jay SHETTY
    2. “Body positive power”, by Megan Jayne Crabbe
    3. “We’re going to need more wine […]”, by Gabrielle Union
    4. “Just mercy”, by Bryan Stevenson* WARNING* There may be a trigger for some, in the title… when you go check it out online!
    5. “Life will be […]”, by Chelsea Handler⠀

#26: CHECK YOUR FINANCES ARE IN CHECK

My Favorite Childhood Memory Is Not Paying Bills

Self-Care Isn't Selfish. Don't Feel Guilty For Taking Some YOU Time. YOU Matter And Are Important! Check out elleash.blog for more SELF CARE TIPS.

Let’s be real here. Even if you don’t like doing it, and unless you have someone who can do it for you (and even if that were the case, you still kinda have to do it!), you really ought to know where you are at, financially.

I can completely understand if you are not up for it today, but as we are nearing the end of the month, now is a good time to think about it.

Even if you are not financially stable, knowing what you owe, when you have to pay a bill, how much you can spend that day/week/month, knowing that you can put a little bit aside, is empowering!!!

Maybe you have debts, but it’s when money is tight that you need to be inflexible with your spending.

I was SO hopeless when it came to handling a budget.

I learned to manage my finances, my 1st year of college. I was living away from my family for the first time, with no one telling me not to buy something, so I went a little spend-happy …

Needless to say, it was through lots of mishaps, numerous calls with my bank manager (NEVER pleasant!!), and countless sleepless nights, that I became good at balancing my money. Don’t go imagining I am loaded, eh!

Like stated above, managing your finances is especially essential when you are on a really tight budget. Try writing down what you spend weekly, then monthly.

At the end of that first year, you have an overall idea of what you spend on what, and then you can allocate yourself X amount for X thing.

And little by little you will be able to balance your money, and eventually closer to financial freedom.

It truly is empowering to know that YOU have CONTROL over that one aspect in your life!!What about you? Are you good or bad at budgeting??

    #27: LISTEN TO A PODCAST

    Find You Why

Self-Care Isn't Selfish. Don't Feel Guilty For Taking Some YOU Time. YOU Matter And Are Important! Check out elleash.blog for more SELF CARE TIPS.

When there are days that you are just not into it, what do you enjoy doing?

One of my go-to activities is listening to a podcast.

This often helps me ground myself, focus and regain purpose for my day. It definitely helps me find my WHY.

We all have a purpose on this earth and sometimes it’s just very difficult to find it.

Yet, we have to remember that whilst we fumble, fall over, we also get back up and regain composure to start again.

Finding equilibrium in my life is a constant uphill battle for me, BUT by listening to a podcast, I know that I can focus and channel my positive vibes, for a healthier outcome.

I always love listening to On Purpose, hosted by Jay Shetty. He has an amazing podcast on finding the why in our life.

I am absolutely loving Unstyled, hosted by Christing Barberich. SHe is the CEO of Refinery 29 and she has amazing guests, who have in common the want to empower through their way-of-life, but also through fashion.

But my go-to for sure is Work in progress. Sophia Bush has a brilliant analytical mind and she interviews beautifully her guests, which also uplifts me, makes me cringe or cry, and most importantly, ensures I ask myself uncomfortable questions.

Sure, there are topics that are controversial, but this is what we need. To be able to listen, debate and be empathetic towards, each other, but mostly ourselves!

What about you? What are your favorite podcasts to listen to??

#28: CLEAN YOUR SCREENS & KEYBOARDS

Self-Care Isn't Selfish. Don't Feel Guilty For Taking Some YOU Time. YOU Matter And Are Important! Check out elleash.blog for more SELF CARE TIPS.

Ok, hands up who cleans their screens and keyboard(s) EVERYDAY!

Well, if you do then go you!! I for one, am definitely not disciplined enough to do so!! LOL.

I do ensure my workspace is looking cute and tidy, but I often forget those items that I use every single day!

It may not appear to be much of a self-care tip, but really it is – by cleaning your screens and keyboard(s), you are also taking care of the things you own.

However, thanks to the Covid-19, I have been extra careful with everything that we touch, and have been very good at cleaning these items, which we don’t think of wiping down!

Cleaning can also be quite relaxing!! You really ought to try it. And even if you are not into cleaning, do wipe down your screens and keyboard(s)!!

When doing so, don’t forget to take off all protections! Germs love to get in all nooks and crannies.

I know, today’s tip was a little different, but I thought it was important to mention it, because with being inside all day, we are more often using our screens.
